Proof of diff colour usernames

I've been saying for a long time now that I have different colour username from other non factioned members. I thought it was because I was logged in, But then I saw someone else with the same colour username.
The lines on the SS show the Colours.

Now, I am wondering why we have different colours. I think, it may be because off our post score, or maybe because off our rep, or maybe because where old players. But WHY?!!!!

Its been annoying me for weeks, I hope Pete or someone knows what it is!

Oh wait, I failed badly.
The names are different names because I have clicked on them. Whenever you click on their name they become like a "Watch" Friend. Their name being like that basically means you check their profile etc.
