Re: /do S/F system, removed
I quite support this topic, In being that I have tested the system of rping like this before on a different server. This can and will work if done correctly and is more realistic than the attempt system the reason peter up there was in the middle is because me and him were on the same server rping like this and it worked. This can work people just have to try it. So if you doubt anything you hear or see on this just go IG and try it that will give you the best overall thoughts about it.Odin wrote:If you want to grab someone, grab them. If you want to push them, just freaking push them. If you want to kick then just do it. And if you- you being the person on the other side of the RP wants to resist then just resist it in a /me. But at the same time remember you're on a roleplay server and the definition of powergaming. This whole successful and failure garbage needs to go.
In order to improve the quality of roleplay and open up doors for new possibilities of action, it is preferable that you, the player, avoid the following formula when performing an action on another character: "/me attempts to [action] (on) [name]. /do Success / Fail?" Why? Because it often influences players to simply reply "/do Fail." and limit possible outcomes.
Instead, if you for example want to hit somebody, use an emote along the lines of "/me launches a right hook in the direction of [name]'s jaw." This implies that the other person must either try to block it, dodge it and/or counter attack, either roleplay the effects of the punch. You must also not forget the rule about powergaming and avoid a finished action such as "/me breaks [name]'s jaw with his right hook, sending [name] on the ground."
/do S/F is the #1 way to PG.
Blue = Johnny, Red = Jimmy
/me tries to pull Jimmy from the car.
/do S/F
/do F, he misses.
This is not made by me. I just took it from another server's forum. I liked it and I was thinking it would help.
Re: /do S/F system, removed
I must agree with Odin here, its better than just ask S/F ,well wait, its the same thing ?
Attempts to kick X in the balls.
S/F?
F,blocks his attack with idkwhatomg.
Attempts to kick X in the balls.
Blocks his attack and rolls over omgidkhow.

Re: /do S/F system, removed
We should keep the system , the easiest way to avoid this bullshit like /do f misses
is to use /coin this could define stuff. Well unless some vampires or wolves have advantage or something then it depends on who is stronger

Re: /do S/F system, removed
I support this idea, but I have a better one.
Who ever wants to use the "/do S/F?" system will use it.
Who ever doesn't want to use the "/do S/F?" won't use it.
It is as simple as that. When I played on a "/do S/F?" server at my first time, I didn't use the "/do S/F?" and I just reacted with /me's. Odin's idea is a simple roleplay, you just have to get used to it.

Keep it.
How would you roleplay without it? I haven't even got an idea of it removed... O_o
The roleplay is good the way it is, if it's not.. Learn2roleplay.

Re: /do S/F system, removed
I personally think that S/F is completely useless. Its the fucking same thing !
You do something, and then ask S/F ...you have to wait for a fucking answer and always to attempt..if you attempt, you dont really do it. But if you do it,the other person gets the chance to do a /me to counter it.
This shows if he actually knows what to do or not,so if youd ask S/F hell just say F ,PG or invent some stupid reason to deny your actions.

Re: /do S/F system, removed
You got that right, I hate S/F system also. It fucks up RP and makes the IC in OOC chat, discussions, complaining and stuff - I dislike the reason of it.
Also.. The coins suck also. Like..
/me attempts to kick in the balls.
/attempts to choke.
/do S/F
It just fucks RP up. If you want to kick? Just kick, but the other user reserve a /me like..
/me sends a straight punch to Taylor's head just running over to him.
/me dodges it as he moved backwards, keeping a close eye to X.
It would be better, so yeah.. I suggest WE remove S/F.

It's not us who need to "Learn2roleplay"
And the roleplay is good the way it is, but it could be even better. Examples have been given, in answer to your first question.

Re: /do S/F system, removed
Compare this action;
"/me attempts to punch X's face."
"/do S/F?"
"/do S."
..to this;
"/me launches a powerful uppercut punch to X's face, trying to land it on his chin."
"/me gets punched on his jaw, and falls down on the sidewalk because of dizzyness."
S/F is just a quick way out, and it's dull, boring, no excitement, details, or anything at all. S/F is a beginner's way of roleplaying.

I like the new system rather than the S/F system, because this limits outcomes to your actions and people make random crap up to deny your actions or whatever.

Re: /do S/F system, removed
I mix between the roleplay ways if neccary.
Like, attempting to breaking windows and just /me'ing punches.
Thar we go.
...
Then again no one wants to accept defeat, including me, which is why everyone has some block move somehow.

Not always you will be the winner, so you have to accept your defeat like a man at certain times. Also, you can defend yourself with your own reply.
"/me swings his left fist into X's cheek, trying to make him drop down."
"/me quickly moves his head back and dodges the punch."

Re: /do S/F system, removed
My point is many people will not want their character, erm, killed to oblivion by magic powers.Sonerin wrote:The Constipator wrote:I mix between the roleplay ways if neccary.

Many vampires stay online just to increase their strength and so can kill everyone that they want to, to the dismay of everyone around them.
Seriously, it makes people avoid them OOCly cause they know all they want is to kill people.

Re: /do S/F system, removed
I'd support this a lot. I mean, which of these Looks more clean and organised:
This:
/me attempts to kick into the Mans crotch with a large amount of force.
/do S/F?
/do F, I step back as you kick.
Or this:
(Man 1) /me Kicks upwards into the Mans crotch with a large amount of force.
(Man 2) /me notices the kick due to being forwardly facing the Man. He quickly steps back and holds his hands in front of his crotch to deflect the force of the kick to his hands.
I prefer Method two to be honest. Much more organised and fun.

If you don't want to do S/F its unfair because what if someone says
/vampirespeedme slices his head with a katana
Then boom your dead -.- Its really unfair to have no S/F D:

My opinion, don't remove it. Why? People have learned to RP in different ways, different servers. In my opinion they should RP as they like to as long as its good enough.

Re: /do S/F system, removed
Solution 1:
Use S/F system for newbs n tards.
Use Proper RP system for non tards and experienced RP'ers.
Solution 2:
Shut up and keep doing what you have done since this topic was created oer a month ago.
